2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected personal and academic data for the following purposes:
- To match your academic profile (JEE Rank, budget, branch choice) with eligible engineering colleges.
- To provide free counselling and advisory services through our verified panel of academic experts.
- To process and review onboarding applications submitted by engineering institutions.
- To send OTPs, verification emails, SMS alerts, and updates regarding your admission status.
- To analyze web traffic and improve the platform's user experience.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
BtechHelpline is a matching and information portal. To fulfill our service of assisting you in finding the right college, we share your data under strict guidelines:
- With Partner Colleges: When you express interest in a particular college, apply to an onboarded partner, or request direct guidance, we share your name, contact details, and academic profile (e.g., JEE rank) with the admissions department of that college so they can directly verify eligibility and contact you.
- With Verified Counsellors: Your profile is shared with our onboarded academic advisors to assist in organizing personalized counseling lists.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by applicable laws, court orders, or government agencies under IT Act 2000.
Note: We do not sell or lease your contact information to third-party marketing companies for purposes unrelated to engineering admissions.
4. Data Retention and Security Practices
We implement reasonable security practices and procedures (including SSL encryption, secure MongoDB access controls, and hashed password storage) to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.
We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide counseling services, satisfy institutional guidelines, or resolve dispute queries, after which it is anonymized or deleted securely.
